Why I Want Educated Clients (and Why I Give Away My Expertise)

Financial education is one of the most meaningful parts of my work. In addition to my financial planning practice, I’ve helped start a local chapter of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing practical, real-world financial education.

Money decisions are rarely just about math. They’re about confidence, clarity, and understanding how today’s choices fit into a bigger picture.

We live in a time of constant financial noise—market volatility, changing tax laws, and headlines that can create fear or urgency. Education doesn’t eliminate uncertainty, but it provides context. It helps people understand what matters, what doesn’t, and how to respond thoughtfully rather than react emotionally.

Some people assume financial advisors benefit from clients knowing less. I believe the opposite is true. Educated clients ask better questions, understand trade-offs, stay invested during volatility, and make decisions aligned with their values rather than headlines.

This is why we offer ongoing workshops and education for our clients. When clients understand the strategy behind their plan, our work becomes collaborative. Decisions feel steadier. Progress feels intentional.

I give away what I’ve learned because confident clients make better decisions. Financial education doesn’t replace advice—it strengthens it.
