How We Work

Costs & Fees

There are three ways our clients choose to work with us, and it’s always entirely up to you.

1. Financial Planning

Strategy, clarity, and a written roadmap — billed hourly or at a fixed package price.

Includes planning, analysis, and modeling; tax*, estate**, retirement, and insurance reviews; and updates whenever life changes.

Great for DIY investors, one-time projects, or an annual checkup.

2. Advisory Fee (Asset-Based Portfolio Management)

Ongoing investment management aligned to your plan. Charged only on advisory assets, with your rate based on total assets under management.

Includes portfolio design, trading, rebalancing, and regular reviews.

Advisory management covers your portfolio; a separate Financial Planning agreement covers your written plan (see #1 above).

3. Brokerage / Transactional Compensation

For one-off products or trades, with no ongoing management — insurance, annuities, or certain investments.

Commissions are typically based on the amount invested; any ticket fees are disclosed upfront.

*In coordination with a tax professional. **In coordination with an attorney.

Want a simple way to get started?

We know this can feel like a lot. If you’d like to ease in and get a feel for working with us, start with our Basic Financial Planning Package.

Costs of planning and investment management, in more detail

We keep our fees simple, predictable, and upfront. You choose the level of support that fits where you are.

Hourly Planning

$350/hour, or a fixed planning-package price not tied to hours. Focused help for a specific need — plan updates, Social Security questions, benefits choices, second opinions, or tax timing (in coordination with a tax professional).

Advisory (Ongoing Management)

Your discount tier is based on your total assets with us (AUM), including advisory, brokerage, and annuity assets.

Advisor-only fee schedule:

1.00% when AUM is $0–$3M
0.85% when AUM is $3M–$5M
0.40% when AUM is above $5M

Fees are paid directly from advisory accounts. Advisory service includes portfolio design, trading and rebalancing, strategist oversight, custody, reporting and monitoring, regular reviews, and recommendations aligned to your existing written plan.

Important: advisory management does not include a comprehensive financial plan. Clients who’d like a full plan may request one, billed as a Financial Planning Package. Your advisory fee is charged to your advisory account quarterly, and each account supports its own fee unless you request otherwise — just ask.

Platform & Strategist Fees

In addition to our advisory fee — the only fee we control — advisory accounts include a platform fee (custody, trading, reporting) and a strategist fee (professional portfolio management). These vary by program and are always disclosed upfront. At account opening, you’ll receive a Statement of Investment Selection showing all three costs and a total amount, clearly laid out.

Brokerage / Transactional

One-time help placing trades or products. Commissions usually come from the amount invested; ticket fees, if any, are disclosed upfront. No ongoing management.

Our commitment to you

Every recommendation comes with three things: why we’re suggesting it, what it costs, and how it affects your taxes — explained in plain English. We look at your whole picture, not just your investments, and we work alongside your CPA and attorney so every piece of your plan fits together.

If this sounds like the kind of help you’re looking for, book time for a complimentary conversation.

Additional information on advisory assets: clients in Manager or Unified programs pay a Manager Fee based on the selected manager. We use a unified platform on Envestnet to manage advisory portfolios, and when we recommend an advisory program, we provide a detailed cost breakdown. Please refer to your advisory agreement and our firm’s ADV Part 2A for full details on fees and charges.
